Daily Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrive at the Lodge from 3pm in time for tea and freshly baked cake. (Complimentary pick up is available from Ludlow Station) Settle into your rooms and take a walk around the grounds.

Enjoy a light dinner* at the Lodge prepared with fresh local produce.

DAY 2 – LUDLOW CASTLE

Start your day with a visit to our unique Georgian cold bath for an early morning plunge.

After a delicious breakfast, today's route will take you on a circular route via Ludlow enabling you to enjoy all the delights of Ludlow including Ludlow Castle and understand the history behind the town.

Highlights along the way will include Ludlow Castle, Ludlow Museum and St Laurence's Church. Ludlow is full of lovely coffee shops, fantastic antiques, and vintage clothing shops so there is lots to explore and savour.

Tea and cake will be ready for your return.

Complimentary two course dinner in the fabulous dining room. Pre-dinner cocktails* and canapes* can be provided. Wine* is also available with dinner.

Full walking time approximately 3- 4 hours (without stops). (Direct walk into Ludlow 30 mins).

DAY 3 – RICHARDS CASTLE

Start your day with a re-energising class of yoga*.

After a delicious breakfast, today's walk will take you across our farm to Richard's Castle and through Mortimers Forest.

Highlights will include the geological evidence of the Ludlow Anticline (dating back 428 million years) the historic ruins of Richard's Castle, one of only three pre-Norman motte and Bailey castles and the medieval church St Bartholomew's.

Packed lunches will be provided. Alternatively, I would be delighted to bring and set up a buffet lunch* along the route to savour on a scenic viewpoint on the farm.

Your walk will bring you back to The Lodge for tea and cake.

Dinner can be arranged locally, or a delicious light dinner* can be provided in the dining room.

Approximate walking time 4-5 hours (not including stops).

DAY 4 – CROFT CASTLE

After a delicious breakfast, todays walk will be the longest taking you along the stunning Mortimers trail via Croft Castle with the option to walk onto Aymestrey.

There are route variations depending on fitness and interests, but the views will not disappoint. Croft Castle has the lovely Carpenter's Tearoom in which to restock on a light lunch* or hot drinks*. Walkers have the option to keep walking onto Aymestrey where a cool beer* will be waiting at the Riverside Inn. At the end of your walk you will be transferred back to the Lodge.

Complimentary tea and cake will be provided on your return to the Lodge.

Dinner* can be arranged in the dining room or at one of the fantastic local places to eat.

Approximate walking time 5-7 hours (depending on routes).

DAY 5

Start your day with a final dip in the invigorating cold bath before having a delicious, cooked breakfast in the dining room.

Guests are welcome to explore the grounds of the Lodge and Arabella can give additional maps for walking before the guests depart.

Walking Fitness Legend

Grade 1
Gentle terrain, walking on good level paths, with a few short, usually gentle, ascents and/or descents.
Grade 2
Walking along well-established paths and tracks. Occasional loose surfaces, and open meadows. Ascents and/or descents up to 1 hour.
Grade 3
Walking along a variety of paths, some stony/slippy in places, with ascents and/or descents of 1-2 hours.
Grade 4
Walking along a variety of paths occasionally challenging, with ascents and/or descents of 2-3 hours.
Grade 5
Challenging walking with a variety of terrain, some long days, and/or long ascents and/or descents.
